The Evolution of the Mixtape: Drake

So yes, another posting on drake, what can I say, the dude’s on point with his ish!
In this video he goes on talk about the importance of a mixtape and how his approach was different than most, by being unique, and really believing in the track and not just throwing it on for the sake of it (“Oh it’s not good enough for my album let me just drop it on a mixtape”). Completely agree with when he discusses that artists shouldn’t always just rap over someone else’s beat, just because its hot. They should create a completely different feel that stands out, or simply just use your own beats. As an artist you need to stand out, you need to be different, you need to be you.
